MEDFORD, Ore. – Cascade Christian won a semifinals game for the first time in its last five tries last week against Scio. The Loggers jumped out to an early 14-0 lead, but the Challengers responded with 29 unanswered points to win 29-14 and advance to the state finals where they’ll play Dayton.
Like Cascade Christian, the Dayton Pirates are also undefeated and currently rank first in the state in RPI. While the Challengers are treating this week of practice just like every other, fullback Josh Brite did admit he stayed up until 4:30 am on Sunday watching film on Dayton.
Coach Jon Gettman says, “They’re good kids that are extremely focused in what they’re trying to do and on their goals… They’ve been hard-working kids, and so I think it’s just that focus and that confidence in one another. They put in the time and effort, and gameday is just that time to show it.”
Dayton and Cascade Christian will play on Saturday at 4:00 PM in Cottage Grove.
