KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — While commissioners were inside debating whether to participate further in the Klamath Basin Restoration Agreement, demonstrators were picketing outside the courthouse.
The demonstrators were not protesting the KBRA, but the choice by state health officials of a co-ordinated care organization for Klamath Falls. They say the choice of Cascades Care eliminates competition and could lead to higher costs and fewer choices.
So far they say they have gathered almost 15,000 petition signatures, calling for bids to be re-opened. Spokesman Fabrice Dolce says he hopes to see two or three providers in the county.
