MEDFORD, Ore. — More than 50 teens gathered in a Medford parking lot to create a cardboard city.
Teams of ten crafted buildings out of cardboard to raise awareness on the amount of people living in poverty. The event was planned in connection with the local Habitat for Humanity.
The money raised from the event will go toward the Youth United Project, which funds a home for a local family in need. Organizers say the effort is growing.
“A lot more people are starting to know about it. We only had four groups last year, this year we have 6 groups, so its really actually its gaining more interest every year we do it,” said organizer Tiffany Shmelzer.
