MEDFORD, Ore. — Traffic backed up and smoke filled the sky as a car caught on fire while two people were driving southbound on I-5.
Rodney Hampson and his passenger were headed back from taking their dog to the vet when he says the oil light came on and the engine started smoking. He tried to stop but says he had no brakes.
Once the car came to a stop, he and his passenger, and the dog, were able to escape unharmed. The car has been determined to be a total loss and Hampson says he does have insurance.
