ASHLAND, Ore. — Callahan’s Mountain Lodge near Mt. Ashland is up for sale, but this does not mean a “For Sale” sign is being slapped on the door, and the business is shutting down.
Callahan’s Lodge has been around for nearly 70 years, and for the past two decades, ownership has been in the hands of Ron and Donna Bergquist. However, Ron is almost 80-years-old, and the couple said they are ready to retire. The real estate market is also doing well, so they said the timing is ideal.
The owners said the sale has nothing to do with the extremely dry winter. Thanks to wedding, parties, and other events, the lodge is back in the green, and their books are back on track.
The lodge will not be closing down during the sale. Instead, it will remain open. The owners said the sale could take a while too. They are looking for the perfect candidate to buy their business, and they said that could take anyone from a couple months to a couple years to find.
“We’re going to give it the best opportunity we can, and find an owner that will be just as steward of it just as we’ve been,” said Bergquist.
The 50 acre property is on the market for $5 million.
