Calif. Wildfire Counts Double Average

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — “Unprecedented” is the way California Fire is describing this year’s fire season.

Governor Jerry Brown has declared this week “Wildfire Awareness Week.” It’s in response to one of the driest winters in the region. In fact, Cal-Fire has already responded to 11-hundred fires statewide. That’s about double the average.

California Fire officials are urging residents to be ready for fires. They’re asking you to maintain 100-feet of defensible space and to create an evacuation plan.
