First Friday Concerts: Quadrophonic – Space as Metaphor

Beginning Friday, August 1, Todd Barton and Bruce Bayard, performing as the duet Control Voltage Therapy, present a series of concerts every First Friday Schneider Museum of Art. Featuring two Buchla Easel electronic music instruments, and a quadraphonic sound system, Barton and Bayard explore “Space as Metaphor.” The concerts are every First Friday, August through December beginning at 11am. Some months will have special guests to be announced. The performances are free and open to the public.

Crater Rock Museum Featured Artist – August/September

Annie Thomas, Crater Rock Museum’s featured artist for August and September, is “…obsessed with beads and crystals of all kinds.” Her works are beautiful and innovative. Necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings – all are works of art! She enjoys recycling old vintage jewelry, and said her favorite new designs are those that resemble Victorian era pieces. Her unique designs, creativity, and love of beading shows in her lovely creations! Annie’s jewelry is sold in the gift shop year-round; as the featured artist for August and September, selected pieces of her work will be on display.

Admittance: Gift Shop, FREE!; Museum: $5/Adults; $3/Seniors; $2/Students; Children 6 and under, FREE

Lifespan Social Clubs @ Emeritus Mountain View Assisted Living

Arc of Jackson Cty, LIfespan Respite has 2 Social CLubs for seniors experiencing memory loss, dementia, Alzheimer’s or any disability. We provide a low cost afternoon for caregivers of seniors where they can socialize, snack, play games, exercise, sing and feel a part of our community.

We currently have 2 Clubs, one in Ashland at Mt. View Assisted Living on Wednesdays from 12-4 and one in Medford at Wynwood of the Rogue Valley on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12-4. These clubs are $6.50 per hour but financial assistance may be available.

Family Tree Maker “PC” User Group @ Jackson County Genealogy Library

This informal, casual group usually meets the first Tuesday of each month as long as interest continues. Everyone is encouraged to bring problems or concerns, etc. and as a group we try and resolve these issues. It is a great way to keep connected and share information, too. Free and Fun!

Family Tree Maker – Using Maps @ Jackson County Genealogy Library

As you record information, you will also record the locations where these events took place.  Each time a place name is entered for a fact or event, FTM (Family Tree Maker) adds this location to a “master list” of locations. You can use this master list to view maps and satellite images of locations which can be attached to individuals in your tree.
