First Friday Concerts: Quadrophonic – Space as Metaphor

Beginning Friday, August 1, Todd Barton and Bruce Bayard, performing as the duet Control Voltage Therapy, present a series of concerts every First Friday Schneider Museum of Art. Featuring two Buchla Easel electronic music instruments, and a quadraphonic sound system, Barton and Bayard explore “Space as Metaphor.” The concerts are every First Friday, August through December beginning at 11am. Some months will have special guests to be announced. The performances are free and open to the public.

Celebrate Recovery Meeting every Saturday at 6pm at 310 North 10th Street Central Point, Oregon 97502, Path Church! Please come and check us out and get freedom from your Hurts, Habits and Hang-Ups! We fellowship with alternating between a lesson and a testimony, break off into groups(Men with Men, Women with Women) and then fellowship again at the end.

Just Scream is a benefit for Southern Oregon Humane Society. All money goes directly to the care of the animals at the shelter. Open October 24th, 25th and Halloween Night.  All nights are open from 6:00-11:00.  Entry fee is $5.00 per person.  No one under age 7 will be admitted.

Free Screening of “Chasing Ice,” the Emmy Award Winning Documentary Film, on October 24th at 7pm

 

“Chasing Ice” (www.chasingice.com) is the story of one man’s mission to change the tide of history by gathering undeniable evidence of climate change.

 

The 75-minute feature film follows James Balog and a band of young adventurers as they undertake the multi-year Extreme Ice Survey, recording magnificent time-lapse photography across the Arctic. The resulting videos compress years into seconds and capture ancient glaciers and mountains of ice in motion, as they disappear at a breathtaking rate.

 

“Chasing Ice” , which aired on the National Geographic Channel, recently received the 2014 Emmy award for Outstanding Nature Programming.
