NEAR KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — The Oregon Department of Forestry is leading the firefighting effort on the Bryant Fire, burning 20 miles east of Klamath Falls.
First reported Thursday afternoon on the NE end of Bryant Mountain, ODF reports the fire has grown to 800 acres. The fire is burning in an active logging operation in felled and bucked timber on steep, rugged terrain.
Firefighters could face challenges fighting the fire, as ODF says gusty winds are predicted for Friday afternoon and evening. ODF expects the fire to grow in size on Friday. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
