BROOKINGS, Ore.– Brookings Commissioners are preparing to ask voters to approve a tax gas to help pay for road maintenance and construction.
The idea was discussed at a work session, Tuesday. A measure is expected to be drafted later this month.
The tax would be between one and three cents per gallon and replace current water-sewer fees. The goal is to raise $300,000 a year. Commissioners said f the tax exceeds that, the tax would be reduced.
Brookings would join 23 other cities and counties in the state to implement the tax.
