MEDFORD, Ore. – Two former Southern Oregon baseball stars are putting summer slumps behind them and streaking in the minor leagues. Former Phoenix Pirate Justin Bohn is currently playing for the Miami Marlins’ Class A affiliate, Greensboro Grasshoppers. After hitting only .177 with the Marlins’ short season affiliate, Bohn is now batting .345 with two stolen bases for the Grasshoppers.
Meanwhile, former North Medford pitcher Braden Shipley still doesn’t have a professional win, but he’s rolling with the Arizona Diamondbacks’ Class A affiliate, South Bend Silver Hawks. Shipley struggled with the Hillsboro Hops this summer, but with the Silver Hawks, he has a 2.65 ERA with 13 strikeouts in 17 innings. On Sunday, he pitched seven innings allowing only two earned runs in a loss to Great Lakes.
