MEDFORD, Ore. — A young girl is choosing to donate all of her birthday presents to foster kids.
When Hannah Sterling’s mom asked her daughter what she wanted for her eleventh birthday, Hannah told her she didn’t want any toys or gift because she already had plenty, but she asked if all the guests at her party could be a toy to be donated to a foster child.
“I started crying,” said Hannah’s mom, Carie Thorn. “It made me really proud of her and just proved what I always thought… that she had a heart of gold.”
The inspiration to give back to foster kids in need came from a family friend, named Natis, who had been in foster care, but recently got adopted.
Nearly 50 gifts were donated at Hannah’s birthday party. The gifts will be donated to Jackson County’s Foster Parent Association, and used as Easter gifts.
