SALEM, Ore. — A bill to fund school lunches over the summer is making its way through the Oregon Senate. The Senate approved legislation Thursday morning to allow more grants to be available to the program.
If the bill is passed, the Oregon Department of Education will award startup grants to more schools and off-campus sites that want to provide summer meals. The bill was originally passed last year which allows schools to spend grant money on summer programs.
The next step is for the bill to be approved by the Governor.
