The flag at the camp has been lowered to half-staff. Crew members have also made a box where firefighters can write notes to Trader’s family. Next to it, a poster is set up for crews to sign their names. Both the notes and poster will be given to the family later. They say the entire camp is still mourning the loss.
“Of course it’s devastating to everyone,” Fire Information Officer, Juanita Wright, said. “It’s just one of the unfortunate things in fire we don’t like to see to happen.”
The fire camp encourages people to donate to the Wildland Fallen Firefighters Foundation. That organization helps families like Trader’s.
