Fair Beverage Sales up Due to Heat

video preview image

MEDFORD, Ore. — It’s hot outside, and high temperatures are increasing drink sales at the Jackson County Fair.

Food vendors said they are staying cool by drinking lots of water and taking breaks when needed.  Fair-goers are buying food, but they are also buying drinks, and more drinks than years past.

The Southern Oregon Food and Beverage tent sells regular sodas along with ten different slushy flavors.  According to managers, during the heat of the day, the slushy machines cannot replenish fast enough to keep up with the high demand.

The fair also has free water tents available to anyone who is feeling parched.  There are also shade areas and mister stations.
