MEDFORD, Ore. — A Seattle man was arraigned Thursday afternoon in a Jackson County Courtroom after his child ate methamphetamine.
Elijah Benbow appeared in court to be officially charged with possession of drugs, driving under the influence of intoxicants and child endangerment charges.
Benbow was first arrested on April 22. Officers pulled him over on I-5 and found bags of meth in his car. Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputies say his 6-year-old daughter told them she had eaten the drug.
He posted bail after being arrested. On Thursday, he pleaded not guilty to all charges and requested a pretrial.
“We’ll get reports, we investigate the case, we figure out how we’re going to resolve it. If we’re going to go to trial, if we’re going to work out some sort of negotiation and how it’s going to be resolved,” said Defense Attorney John Eckram.
Benbow’s pretrial is set for June 24th at 1:30 p.m. in the Jackson County Justice Center.
