TUCSON, Ari. – The Arizona Wildcats hosted Oregon State and looked to figure things out after getting blown out last week by the Ducks in Eugene. The Beavers offense came out in full force with Sean Mannion and Storm Woods dominating the stat sheet.
Mannion found Markus Wheaton for a short touchdown late in the 1st quarter to put the Beavers up by 7. Halfway through the 2nd quarter, Mannion had over 200 passing yards and the Beavers were leading 17-0. The Wildcats would respond, however. Three consecutive touchdowns for Arizona turned the tables and the Beavers found themselves down by 4 with 8:48 left in the 3rd quarter.
Then the two teams played the game of “action and reaction.” The two offenses traded touchdowns racking up nearly 1,200 yards and the two quarterbacks seemed unstoppable. In the end, however, a Rashaad Reynolds interception on the Wildcats’ last drive sealed the victory for the Beavers.
Mannion finished with 433 passing yards and 3 touchdowns, and Storm Woods rushed for 161 yards. The Beavers are now 3-0 overall and 2-0 in conference. They will host Washington State next week.
