SAN ANTONIO, TX. – A late stumble by Oregon State cost the Beavers a chance at their first 10-win season since 2006. Texas topped the Beavers in the 2012 Alamo Bowl 31-27.
Head coach Mike Riley said he wanted to run the ball against the Longhorns’ defense, and the team was able to do just that. Storm Woods finished with 118 yards and two touchdowns, but Texas’ David Ash had the final say.
With 2:24 remaining and the Beavers leading by 3, Ash lobbed a 36-yard floater to Marquise Goodwin for the game winning touchdown. Goodwin also had a 64-yard touchdown run earlier in the game.
Cody Vaz completed 15 passes for 194 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions. The Beavers drop to 9-4, a stark turnaround from their 3-9 finish in 2011.
