CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State fell into an early hole, but Cody Vaz and Terron Ward helped the Beavers climb out of it as OSU beat Arizona State 36-26 on Saturday night.
On the third play of the game, the ball slipped out of Vaz’s hands, resulting in an easy touchdown for the Sun Devils’ defense. The Beavers found themselves down 14-3 in the first quarter, but they responded. Vaz connected with Markus Wheaton on a 50 yard touchdown and Ward took it in from 53 yards out to help the Beavers tie the game at 19 in the half.
The Beavers dominated the second half, scoring 17 unanswered in the third and fourth quarters. Vaz threw three touchdowns, while Ward added 146 yards and a score. Wide receivers Brandin Cooks and Markus Wheaton each topped the century mark and combined for three touchdowns for Oregon State. OSU improved to 7-1 with the win as the Beavers get ready for a November 10th game against Stanford.
