WHITE CITY, Ore. — The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reports a suspect is in their custody in the case of a bank robbery in White City.
Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says officers responded to a “hold-up” alarm at Wells Fargo Bank in the 7400 block of Highway 62 in White City on Friday afternoon. When deputies arrived on scene, witnesses were able to describe the man and indicate where he had fled.
The sheriff’s office said he was last seen running towards the Big R store across the highway. Deputies established a perimeter and started a search of the area. Jackson County K-9, Darco, was deployed to search and dectectives canvassed local businesses.
The sheriff’s office were able to track down the suspect at the Brookside Inn on Leigh Way in White City. The sheriff’s office said staff confirmed a man matching the suspect’s description had checked in recently.
Shortly after 1:00 p.m., Detectives found 40-year-old Bryan Lepneske in a room at the inn. Lepenske was taken into custody without incident. The sheriff’s office said Lepenke has no current address.
During the reported hold up, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said Lepenske did not display a weapon during the incident and left with an undisclosed amount of cash. No injuries were reported. The sheriff’s office said items of “evidentiary value” were located along with cash. He is charged with Theft 1 at this time. The sheriff’s office said further charges may be added once the District Attorney has reviewed the case.
