Attempted Theft at Sportsman’s Warehouse

MEDFORD, Ore. — Store employees at the Sportsman’s Warehouse successfully stopped a man from stealing, but not before getting head-butted, bit, and almost shot at.

Medford Police said officers were dispatched at about 4:01 p.m. to Sportsman’s Warehouse for a shoplifter actively fighting. Upon arrival of police, store employees had the suspect in custody. Police said Shigh Davis, steal a pair of $40 shoes and exit the store. When employees attempted to stop him, he put up a fight.

Police said Davis head-butted and bit two separate employees, causing injury. More store employees assisted in detaining the suspect, as well as two bystanders. During the fight, the suspect was reaching in his waistband and threatening to kill everyone. Six employees and two bystanders were able to finally get the suspect in handcuffs.

Police located a concealed 9mm handgun in Davis’s waistband, which was loaded. Witnesses believe Davis was attempting to get the gun during the struggle but was not able to due to their actions.
