Attempted Murder Suspect Makes Deal

MEDFORD, Ore. – A Southern Oregon man facing attempted murder charges will spend 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to the lesser charge of unlawful use of a weapon.

In April, police began searching for Jose Macias after a gang shooting on Crater Lake Avenue in Medford. In September, Macias was arrested in Fresno, and extradited to the Rogue Valley in October.

The deal reached by prosecutors and defenders today drops the attempted murder charges.
