NEW YORK, N.Y.- In a few weeks, ATM’s across the country could be an easy target for hackers. Nearly 95 percent of bank ATM’s still use Windows XP as their operating system, but officials say it is more than a decade old. On Apr. 8th, Microsoft will stop issuing security updates for the software. They say this means any holes in the system won’t be fixed, and it could leave accounts at risk. Wells Fargo and Citibank officials say they are upgrading their ATM’s but haven’t given any more information yet. Other major banks say replacing all the ATM’s will not be easy and for some it means updating them one at a time.
