ASHLAND, Ore. – Ashland Springs Hotel owners are expanding into Medford after recently purchasing the Red Lion Hotel.
Doug and Becky Neuman saw the hotel property, located in the Commons of downtown Medford, as an opportunity to create a vibrant and successful new place to work, play and dine at. Their plans are to change the name to the Inn at the Commons.
“The Commons is a terrific concept and it’s happening now,” Doug Neuman said. “I am pleased to be part of the next level of revitalization.”
The Inn at the Commons will go through renovations including expanded landscaping and interior decorating. The Larks restaurant is also planned to open in the hotel this October. Of the 185 guest rooms, 118 will remain as part of the Inn. Remaining buildings will be torn down because this section of the property will then belong to the City of Medford. Plans for this property include a pedestrian connection between Downtown, the Bear Creek Greenway and Hawthorn Park, as well as additional parking for all the new plans.
The Red Lion Hotel is the largest convention center in Medford and can accommodate up to 1,200 people. The expansion and renovation of the building will potentially bring large conferences and events to the area, having a positive impact on the economy of the entire city.
