Ashland Girl’s Swim Coach Arrested

ASHLAND, Ore. — An Ashland High School swim team coach was arrested for rape and sex abuse Tuesday.

The 24-year old Ashland resident was a volunteer swim coach for the girl’s team at Ashland High School. Camren Mitzel is accused of having a sexual relationship about 12 months ago with one of the girls on the team, who was 14 years old at the time.

No force was reported to have been used during the incidents, but Oregon law states an individual under the age of 18 cannot consent to sexual activity. Mitzel is facing four counts of rape in the 3rd degree and four counts of sex abuse in the 2nd degree.
