Ashland Couple Sells Illegal Chemical

ASHLAND, Ore. — An Ashland couple is claiming that selling a bleach product as a cure-all item is protected by the U.S. Constitution.

42-year-old Louis Smith and 38-year-old Karis Delong, allegedly sold a chemical online, that when mixed with citric acid, created a diluted version of industrial bleach. They claimed that consuming this solution would cure ailments ranging from earaches to cancer.

While at court in Washington State, they argued that because they sold the product through a private association, they could not be prosecuted. Government prosecutors say just because it was declared private, does not mean they can operate illegally.
