MEDFORD, Ore. — Asante’s Francis Cheney Family Place is getting a makeover. The facility is used for families traveling to Medford for medical emergencies needing a place to stay. It’s also open for patient stays. “So, you might live in Klamath Falls or the Coast and you need radiation five days a week, so actually, patients themselves can stay here and benefit from being nice and close to the hospital,” said Guest Housing Manager Sharon Young.
Friday, construction crews demolished the interior of half of the building on State Street. The other half is still open for guests. The entire building will shut down in the middle of August.
The remodeling project is funded by donations. So far, donations total $500,000. But the project needs a total of $2,000,000 over the next five years to finish.
The new place will include a remodeled kitchen, dining area and bathrooms with handicap access.
