GRANTS PASS, Ore. — A man who robbed a Grants Pass restaurant then assaulted an employee Sunday night is still on the run.

Grants Pass Police say just after 9 p.m., a man walked into the River City Grill with an handgun and demanded money. After the female employee gave him money, the suspect reportedly hit the woman in the head with his gun.

Other customers then attempted to intervene, but stopped and ran away when the suspect pointed his gun at them. Grants Pass Police advise people to not intervene in robbery situations.

“Unfortunately at times they do inflict violence and shoot the victims but we would always just caution against that. It’s always best to just go ahead and submit to the demands and then just let the person go ahead and leave,” said Grants Pass Police Deputy Chief Bill Landis.

The suspect is described as a 30 to 40-year-old white male about 5’10 and 200 pounds. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Grants Pass Police.
