Are You Disaster Ready?

MEDFORD, Ore. – Northwest residents say they believe it’s important to be ready for a disaster, but many admit they are not.

The Red Cross sent out a survey to nearly 1,500 people in Oregon and southwest Washington. While 80% say they have lived through a disaster, a mere 35% say they have actually participated in disaster preparedness activities, like CPR training, first aid training or drills.

The survey also found that a good portion of the population have at least one vulnerability working against them: 30% live with children, 19% live with seniors, 7.4% live with a disabled family member and nearly 69% live with pets.
