MEDFORD, Ore. – Medford Fire crews said an apartment unit in a building on Stevens Street in Medford is a total loss after catching fire Sunday night.
No one was injured in the fire. However, crews advised the rest of the building’s residents to stay somewhere else for the night because of smoke damage. The fire was contained to only one two-story unit of the building.
Medford Fire investigators determined the cause of the fire was determined to be accidental; charcoal briquettes thought to be unburned were put back into the bag by the resident and placed in the closet. The briquettes ignited combustibles in the closet and the combustible structure.
