Fire Tears Through Grants Pass Apartment

GRANTS PASS, Ore. — A fire tore through an apartment complex late Wednesday afternoon.

Fire crews are still on the scene of the structure fire in Grants Pass. Grants Pass fire officials say this is one of the largest structure fires in the city limits this summer.

The fire started around 3 p.m. this afternoon. Grants Pass City Fire and Rural Metro responded. Eight engines were on the scene on the 1500 block on Hamilton Lane. The fire started in an apartment and damaged three units.

Everyone evacuated safely and no one was injured. Neighboring businesses say they saw the flames spreading quickly. The cause of this fire is still under investigation. Fire crews will be at the fire scene over the next few hours to make sure it gets put out completely.

The Department of Public Safety is directing traffic along the road next to the scene.
