Today will be another picture perfect day of summer with seasonable temperatures and sunny skies. Winds shift today ahead of a cold front approaching our area so that the smokey skies will push to the east, clearing out some of the smoke the basin and northern California have been experiencing. Besides the drop in temperatures the story will be the winds over the next few days. Winds pick up again today along the coast with a small craft advisory in effect due to wind gusts up to 30 mph possible. As the cold front approaches areas inland will also see the winds pick up. Due to strong winds tomorrow accompanied by low humidity the National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch tomorrow for Modoc county. I wouldn’t be surprised if other areas get added or a red flag warning is issued as we get head into tomorrow and Friday.
As for air quality, Lakeview reached the ‘Sensitive’ level yesterday, through the morning hours the air quality has been improving and is approaching a ‘Good’ level. We will continue to monitor air quality as it can change quickly.
Should be a nice summer week and weekend with pleasant temperatures and quite skies. Get out and enjoy the last few weeks of Summer, as Fall is just around the corner, one month away to be exact.
