MEDFORD, Ore. — Police are investigating another potential arson. This time again in an alley in downtown Medford. This is the eighth fire in a string of suspicious fires set in Medford just this week.
The latest fire was started around 5 a.m. in an alleyway in the 1000 block of West Tenth Street. Fire officials said they are not sure how the fire started, but they do believe it was intentional.
Crews at the scene said the fire basically put itself out and didn’t spread, but according to police, if it had spread to the grass, it could have made it to a nearby homeowner’s wood shed. This fire is leaving homeowners worried, and on the look-out.
“Hope I don’t catch them because I will definitely drag them to the police department,” said Scott Meadows, a concerned neighbor. “I think it is wrong and someone is going to get hurt, it has to stop.”
This fire follows in the footsteps of others earlier this week. Early Wednesday morning, five small fires broke out on Medford’s west side. Then just two days later, on Friday, two more fires were intentionally set, also in Medford.
Fire investigators declined to comment on camera, but say they are continuing to look into the latest fire.
