We’ve lucked out with a thermal trough hanging around just off the coast for the next couple days which will keep temperatures in Oregon closer to normal than where we’re headed this weekend. Northern California will be flirting with the 100s today while the valleys will join them as we head into the weekend.
With fires burning in the area expect some areas to see smoky skies, with the heaviest smoke closer to where the fires are burning in northern California and east of the Cascades. This will be the case for the next several days. Besides smoke, we’ll see more clouds across the area today but those will be clearing out by the weekend just in time for the Perseids meteor shower!
Winds will pick up along the coast again this weekend and high seas are expected. As we head into the weekend winds will be staying high but will shift to offshore flow with the approach of the ridge which means warmer temperatures along the coast. With the approach of the ridge and the thermal trough off the coast, there is the possibility of strong wind gusts across the area today.
Enjoy another seasonable day today before we kick up the heat this weekend!
