ROGUE RIVER, Ore. — Today kicks off the National Rooster Crowing Contest in Rogue River. Rooster crow signs are all around the town.
This has been an annual event for 60 years. The community center is setting up for the kick off dinner later Friday evening. Product vendors are already filling up the Umpqua Bank parking lot.
“It takes several hours for us to do this, four or five hours sometimes because we have a lot of product and tables and equipment to set up,” says vendor Robert Riker. “By the end of the day, this whole parking lot will be full of other vendors.”
The annual rooster crow event lasts throughout the weekend. You’ll be able to enjoy arts and crafts, food booths, and kid’s activities. The event features a ‘Fun Run and Walk’ at 8 a.m. followed by the Rooster Crow Parade at 10.
Events will continue into Sunday with more vendor booths and a Rooster Crow Car Show.
