Animal Event Raises Money for Training

Dog Care FairGRANTS PASS, Ore. — Local animal technicians provided low-cost or free veterinary services to pets at the Dog Care Fair in Grants Pass Saturday. Dozens of dogs filled Riverside Park for the event.

There were lots of fun things for animals to do at the event as well. It was all in an effort to help raise money for local disabled children. Proceeds from participating pet owners at the Dog Care Fair go toward the Rogue Valley Humane Society and a group called Canine Angels. Both organizations train dogs for placement with special needs children.

Officials say the benefits of the event stretch even further, bringing attention to adoptable animals. “The first year that we had the adoptable pooch parade, those dogs got … adopted right away after our event … we had multiple dogs being adopted today,” said Dog Care Fair’s Jodi MacDonald.
