Anchor Mom: Bubble Wrap Isn’t an Option

Olivia's mastered the crutches! Sept. 2013

Olivia’s mastered the crutches! Sept. 2013

Anytime I hear “broken leg”, I am sent back to the first day of school in fall of 2013.  It was Olivia’s first day of school.  20 minutes into the day, she fell from a fireman’s pole and broke her leg.  In 3 pieces.  Fibula and Tibia.  It was awful.

When I asked our orthopedist if there was anything I could do to prevent ever being in this situation again (calcium supplements? more milk?  A plastic bubble?)  She said – the only way to ensure you’ll be back here is to let her onto a trampoline.

Today’s HealthWatch brings that recommendation back to the forefront of my mind.  What do you think?  Will you be reevaluating trampolines and your family?
