On Monday morning, a press conference will be held at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland where a state plan with strategies for dealing with Alzheimer’s disease will be announced.
A task force, that was comprised of people ranging from family care givers to state legislators, developed the plan that will be presented on Monday.
A Southern Oregon woman will be speaking at Monday’s conference. Marya Kain of the Jackson County Alzheimer’s Association support group will speak, as will her father, Bill Whitney, who is living with the disease.
“The biggest thing we’re hoping for tomorrow is to have the state wide plan to show how there’s going to be an availability of services to everybody who may need those services” said Kain.
The state plan is expected to compliment the National Alzheimer’s Plan that was released earlier this year in May.
