MEDFORD, Ore. — Thursday, a new flight left for the Bay Area from the rogue Valley International Medford Airport. Allegiant added two flights a week to Oakland, and to celebrate, two people got a free weekend getaway.
All these people in line have already bought their tickets for this inaugural flight but two lucky people are going to Oakland, and staying there for free.
Most of the time, you won’t get very far if you head to the airport without a ticket, but more than 30 people took the chance in order to win Allegiant’s “Pack Your Bags Give Away.” Dressing the part of tacky tourist got you two entries.
The airline teamed up with the Rogue Valley International-Medford Airport to award two lucky passengers with flight and accommodations to Oakland, the newest city on the departure board. But, ultimately, there are more than just two winners. Unlike dozens who purchased their tickets, there was great expectation from those hoping to win them.
“I was kind of stunned, I was going to jump up and down and then I was like — I didn’t bring a girl. And so I was luck enough to grab Gordon, he was like, ‘I am not doing anything’,” says winner Brian Zastoupil.
Sans girl, Gordon and Brian are now on their way to the Bay Area.
Despite the long line, the inaugural flight was not booked up, so a lot of these people took the chance to go up and get their tickets and fly down to Oakland anyway.
