[UPDATED: MAY 7, 2014] The Jackson County Sheriff’s office deputies have arrested the driver of the crash in Rogue River that left two people dead in early April. Lynda Mae Taylor is lodged in the Jackson County Jail on charges of Manslaughter, Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII), and Reckless Driving.
[UPDATE: APRIL 3, 2014] A second person died from the fatal crash near Rogue River yesterday. 80 year old Jerry Barrett was transported to Providence Medford Medical Center. He passed away just before 10.p.m. last night.
Police said they believe alcohol, drugs, and speed were factors in the crash. Lynda Taylor remains at Rogue Regional Medical Center. The District Attorney is now handling the investigation. A grand jury is expected to hear the case against Taylor next week. Sheriff’s deputies are asking anyone who had contact with either Taylor or Campos before the crash to contact them.
[PREVIOUS] ROGUE RIVER, Ore. — One person is dead and two others are in the hospital after a crash near Rogue River this afternoon.
The crash happened in the 3600 block of North River Road around 1:15 p.m.. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said the driver of a red Kia Spectra lost control and crashed into a tan Buick Park Avenue. Investigators do not know how the driver lost control.
The passenger in the Kia, 40-year-old Joe David Campos, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver in the Kia, 32-year-old Lynda Mae Taylor, is in the hospital in critical condition. The driver of the Buick, 80-year-old Jerry Vernon Barrett, is in serious condition.
North River Road has been shut down while deputies investigate the crash.
