 elight opera novices and aficionados alike. The Old Maid and the Thief is 
 a tale of gossip\, small town stereotypes\, and the lengths to which peopl
 e will go for love. In The Telephone\, two lovers face a different challen
 ge caused by a young woman’s obsession with her phone. The operas are fill
 ed with Menotti’s incredibly witty words and ingenious music and feature a
  richly talented national cast of professional opera singers and instrumen
