911 Dispatcher Helps Deliver Baby

WHITE CITY, Ore., — Doctors sent Ashley Smith home late Saturday night because she was only a few centimeters dilated. Within a couple hours her water broke. Smith told her mother to call 911 – knowing the baby would not wait.

When her mother Connie called, Colleen Crawford answered. She walked the soon to be, 12 times over, grandma through the birth of Jaylynne Marie Cruikshanks. Within just minutes of dialing 911 Jaylynne was born on grandma’s living room floor. Despite a scare with the umbilical cord wrapped around the baby’s neck, both mother and daughter are healthy and back at home.
