MEDFORD, Ore. — Avid runners didn’t take a day off in preparation for the big holiday meal. Dozens jogged in the 8th Annual Southern Oregon Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day.
The Turkey Trot got started at the Rogue Rock Gym in Medford. Joggers chose from three different courses at this year’s event. The 100 yard turkey dash started at 7:45 a.m., the 8-mile course started at 8 a.m. and the 2-mile version was at 8:30 a.m.
People we spoke with say this is a great way to start off Thanksgiving Day the healthy way.
“The excitement of turkey day, we love Thanksgiving and this is a great way to start off our Thanksgiving feast so we can pig out and have fun later,” said runner Lori Deboer.
Prizes were given throughout the race. Proceeds from the event are going to the ACCESS Food Share program.
