MEDFORD, Ore. – As of now, more than 40% of the ballots in Jackson County have been turned in. The County Clerk says we are right on pace with where we were in 2008.
On Thursday, volunteers continued to verify signatures and sort ballots as part of the preliminary processes before those ballots get tabulated. The Jackson County Elections Office will start tabulating the actual results from ballots tomorrow morning.
“Those results cannot be released until 8 p.m. election night, so the machines are actually the ports are sealed we have a whole process that we go through, according to our security plan, to make sure that none of those results get out until 8 p.m. election night,” explained Jackson County Clerk Chris Walker.
Election officials say they’ll have a first release of results 8 p.m. No matter what on election night, but the sooner people get the ballots in the sooner they can get the unofficial final out.
