To mark NewsWatch 12’s 25th anniversary, we are taking a look back into our archives at some of the stories that made major headlines in Southern Oregon and Northern California.

In 1987 a set of fires sparked by a massive lightning storm stretched from the Sierras to the Cascades and seemed to burn for months.

Former Reporter Ed Teachout covered one of the dozens of stories NewsWatch 12 aired that focused on the scramble for resources to cover the hundreds of fires, many of which burned out of control for weeks.
