GRANTS PASS, Ore. — A thousand Southern Oregon students planted trees Friday as part of the 24th Annual Youth Tree Plant.

Each student planted five trees on Josephine County Forestry Land adding 5,000 Douglas Firs to that area. Ross Roe has been organizing this event for nearly 25 years and says in all more than 75,000 trees in that forest were planted by local children.

Local forestry professionals dig the holes and each kid gets to put an aluminum name tag on the trees they plant.
