JACKSONVILLE, Ore. — Rogue Valley’s biggest concert season is on its way. Big performers are coming to the Britt stage, like Michael Franti and Spearhead; Billy Currington; Ziggy Marley; Martina Mcbride; The Doobie Brothers; and Cyndi Lauper.
“I’m really thrilled about Cyndi Lauper, because I’m a child of the 80’s and of course I feel like she’s doing some innovative things. She’s got violin, and other things,” said audience member Inger Jorgenson
Besides the big names coming to the Britt, this summer also marks a historic moment for the Britt. In the organizations’ 50-year history, there’s been just four music directors and it’s been more than 20 years since the last search, but a new music director will be chosen this year.
“We’re going to have three different finalists that will actually perform two concerts during the classical – one each week will perform two concerts,” explained Executive Director Donna Briggs.
Audience members say they’re looking forward to hearing the performers, but they also say it’s really the people and atmosphere that makes Britt a one-of-a-kind experience.
“Its actually one of my favorite places to see a show,” Jorgenson said. “Its not just because I live here, but having such an intimate venue to see such big acts is really special. Its like being in a big family. You know, everybody is so excited and being able to it on the lawn and drink wine and have fun. It’s just the best. We love it.”
For Britt members, ticket sales are from April 11th to May 16th and then it’s open to the general public afterwards.
